Well, Whatdya Know?

(Found using Google)

So, all of my professors have been pushing paper due dates back and since I already have the papers done, I'm bored out of my mind. Enter Sherlock Holmes. I spent a whole day just watching the episodes again. LOVE IT! It's great. If you haven't checked it out, check it out! (BBC Sherlock)

Also, I've got some things up my sleeves, mostly blog tours, so expect a few of those in the near future. I'm extremely excited to share these with you! Plus, my first blog tours so wish me luck!

Now, books, let's get back to that subject.....what more can we say about books? Hmmmm.....

What about your favourite childhood series? What was the one series that you just loved during your childhood and just feel like it either defined your childhood or when you see it/read it, you remember reading it for the first time?

Mine was Harry Potter. I've sort of already covered this in an earlier post, but I'm going to go over this again.

When I was younger, I always said I would never read the Harry Potter Series. I don't know why, it was just something that I didn't think would interest me. Then about the time the fifth book came out, my family was doing a Christmas gift exchange. Since I was well known for my love of reading, my cousin got me the first four books of the Harry Potter series. I didn't want to be rude and figured I'd read them once. And not read the rest of the books. Hahaha, what a shock I had in for me. I immediately fell in love with the series, and to this day I try and read it at least once a year. It's come to mean escape into a magical world that took me away from the difficult times that every kid has. I didn't really have a difficult life, in fact it was great! Never really lacked for anything. But there's always those little things that other kids say or do or needing to escape a sibling every once in a while that just makes books the perfect escape. So, Harry Potter has come to define my childhood. And I'll be sure to read the books to any kids that I might have. It's a great series and one I think every kid should read.

So, what about you guys? What were your favourite series' as a kid? Do you still read them?

  1. This is going to TOTALLY age me but I can't help it. I'm 'aged' (but like a fine wine, or so I say!) My favorite books as a kid were (insert embarrassed face emoticon here) anything by Judy Blume. There I said it. I was going to say the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series which I DID like but that makes me sound even older than I am. Eep! :)

    1. Your secret is safe with me....well and my readers. But I never really got into the Judy Blume books. But I did used to read the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series before Harry Potter hooked me. All of those novels were amazing! I loved reading the mysteries that seemed so complex to me at the time. -Shy Aly
